Spec Script Deal: “Autobahn”

British prod co and financier Between the Eyes acquires action-thriller spec script “Autobahn” from writer F. Scott Frazier. From The Wrap:

“Autobahn” is described as “Fast and Furious” meets “Taken.”

The price was in the mid-six figures.

First off, this is not to be confused with a previous spec script called “Autobahn” that sold this August.

Second Scott is forging quite a reputation as a spec script maven having sold three since May of last year: “The Numbers Station,” which goes into production later this month, “Line of Sight” and now “Autobahn.” Indeed Scott sold another spec which has yet to be announced.

Third I am happy to say that Scott has agreed to do an interview, so look for that in the next few weeks.

Congratulations, Scott! I guess I don’t have to send you any creative juju for the foreseeable future.

By my count, “Autobahn” is the 93rd spec script sale in 2011.

In 2010, only 55 spec scripts sold.

In 2009, only 68 spec scripts sold.

Spec sales are up 86% year-to-date compared to last year.
