Spec Script Sale: “Matriarch”

Paramount acquires thriller spec script “Matriarch” written by Eric Koenig. From Deadline:

The thriller follows two powerful female characters going head to head as a prison psychologist has 48 hours to convince a serial killer to disclose the location of her final victim before she is executed.

This is the first sale for Koenig. He is repped by Paradigm and Benderspink.

Deal is for a reported mid-six figures.

By my count, this is the 56th spec script sale in 2014.

There were 92 spec script sales year-to-date in 2013.
