Update: Word Cloud Logline Challenge — Winners Revealed!
So after all the entries here, here, here, and here, and waiting around for Max Millimeter to return from MIA status, we finally have the winners of this most recent Word Cloud Logline Challenge. As a reminder, here is the word cloud:
This is a collection of all the words from all the loglines of all the spec scripts that have sold year-to-date in 2013. And here is a transcript of Hollywood Movie Producer Extraordinaire Max Millimeter’s recording picking the winning loglines:
Awright, let me just say right up front… I am hungover. Big time. Fuuuuuuck. Aspirin, please. Seriously, I got a couple of jack-asses in my head kicking at each other. Not pretty.
Just a sec. Stomach queasy. Gotta… hold on.
[Sounds of Max vomiting. Loudly. Often.]
Phew, gastro geyser. But… much better.
Okay, anyway I plowed through all of the loglines. And lemme just say, holy crap! The creative cajones on you guys! I mean I look at that word cloud deelybob and it’s enough to drive me to drink. But hey, don’t need a driver for that. Heh.
Awright, here are the winners.
A British boy band, playing their first gig in Tokyo, must run for their lives when all of the school-girls become infected with a mysterious virus, turning them into deadly, sex-crazed maniacs. — Ryan Decaria
This is like A Hard Day’s Night meets Zombieland meets a sex romp. Target demo, teenagers. Japan hits international market. Make it for a budget, get four hunky guys to star, hit soundtrack, I smell profits.
When a drug-addicted DJ’s album sales tank, he must seek the help of a 60s rock band transported to present day London, in order to create the next big, electronic sound. — Nicole Chapman
Another music one. Stoner 60s American band. London today. It’s Cheech and Chong meets Austin Powers meets Saturday Night Fever.
A battle-scarred female vet picks up a mysterious, All-American guy for an overnight hookup, but when the FBI locks the city down to search for a terrorist, she’s forced to get to know her one-night stand… who may be the terrorist they’re looking for. — Will Hare
Trapped with a terrorist. Movie!
A wimpy teacher who gets mugged and discovers the five blows he took to his head enhanced five of his human abilities becomes a brave cop to battle crime in his city. — Maurice Vaughan
I ain’t much for superhero movies, but super eyesight, super hearing, super touch… pretty clever.
HERnia: When a magic truss transforms a traditional business man in his 60s into a young female sex worker, he is forced to re-examine his beliefs about relationships, men, love, sex, everything! — Barbara Thomas
It coulda won with the title alone. Pretty Woman meets Tootsie.
And I convinced the Kid to add one more: The Max Millimeter Kitchen Sink Award!
A reclusive academic battles to save her ex-cop brother’s family from debt… AND A BAND OF DEADLY KNIFE-WIELDING GOD-LIKE HALF-BRITISH GERMAN FRENCH SCIENTISTS WITH A TANK FROM THE FUTURE! — Simo
Got no clue what it means, but I like the guy’s chutzpah.
Look, let’s face it. This whole challenge deal is just goofy. But know what? If it gets you thinking up story ideas, then hey… that’s the thing, right? Ideas are the lifeblood of Hollywood. And if you ain’t thinking ’em up, somebody else is. So every day, you should come up with at least one story idea. Every. Damn. Day. Especially with the whole Quest thing comin’ up.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go mainline some Alka-Seltzer…
There you have it, words of wisdom from Max Millimeter: Legendary Hollywood Movie Producer.
