Let me go on record that I am not a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. The NY Mets have been my team since 1964. And this video from 1988 creates a certain amount of chagrin as the Dodgers beat the Mets in the playoffs to reach the World Series.
That said, I am a big baseball fan. One of my favorite sports movies is The Natural. And this mashup of that movie and the actual historical events of Kirk Gibson’s home run to win Game 1 of the 1988 World Series is awesome.
The thing is Gibson was hurt. He pinch hit. He limped around the bases after hitting the game-winning home run. Arguably one of the greatest moments in all of sports history and a true testament to the spirit of “Never give up”.
