Spec Script Sale: “Priority Run”

Arclight Film acquires action spec script “Priority Run” written by Terrance Mulloy. From THR:

The story centers on a small group of correctional officers and inmates who must band together to fend off a mysterious attack when their prison bus is sabotaged on a remote stretch of highway.

Mulloy is from Australia. Off the top of my head, there was “Viral” from writer Dustin T. Benson who lives in Norway, and “Divorce Party” from writer Mukilan Thangamani who lives in New Zealand. That’s at least 3 spec scripts originating from well outside the U.S. that have been set up in 2012.

Does this reflect another aspect of the internationalization of the Hollywood film business?

By my count, this is the 91st spec script sale of 2012.

At this point last year, there were 100 spec sales.

Spec script sales are down 10% year-to-date compared to 2011.
